3 Easy Ways to Switch Up Your Show Outfit Mid-Season

Posted by Show Ring Outfitters on 4th Aug 2019

We're already halfway through show season... can you believe it?! Some of you may have debuted a new outfit this year, or perhaps you're sticking with a personal favorite from a previous season. No matter how much we may love an outfit, however, there comes a time when you're ready to change things up. If you're one of the lucky riders getting ready for Louisville in a few weeks, maybe you're looking for a little extra "wow factor". Here are three easy, quick ways to update your show ensemble if it's time for a fresh look:

1. Get a new tie

A simple way to change the look and vibe of your entire outfit is to change your tie. It may seem like a small part of your ensemble, but the tie can really set the tone for the rest of your look. Especially if you are yearning for a new splash of color, choosing a tie that offsets the palette you already have can make your entire outfit look brand new.

See what a difference the tie can make? Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors in your tie, even if it doesn't "match" the colors in the rest of your outfit perfectly. For example, even though this suit has green and blue pinstripes in it, a pink tie would look just as nice and would add an unexpected, but complementary pop of color.

2. Get some new accessories

New accessories are a fun way to add some excitement to your show outfit. Even just a new brooch or extra accessories such as a tie ring or set of button covers are nice additions to what you already have. If you're headed to the World's Championship Horse Show in a few short weeks, now is the time to step up your game with a set of custom accessories.

Set yourself apart with custom accessories, made just for you! We're obsessed with this set in "volcano" stones.

3. Get a new vest

If you're looking to make a dramatic change, a new vest will make a big difference in your overall appearance. Although sometimes difficult to find on short notice, there are many off-the-rack or consignment options out there if you don't want to wait to have something custom made. To get the most bang for your buck, a reversible vest will give you tons of options for styling the rest of your outfit!

What a huge difference the vest makes with this outfit! You can change your vest depending on what division you are showing in, or even what time of day you will be showing. For example, the coral vest would look great in a daytime class, while the navy vest is a nice choice for an evening look.

Saddle seat riding clothes aren't cheap, so once you've settled on a look, it may feel like you're stuck with it for a while. With a little creativity, you will find that you can get a lot of mileage out of the same pieces by changing things here and there. If you're ready to part with your show clothes for good, consignment is a great way to get a complete upgrade.
