4 High Fashion Trends to Bring to the Show Ring

Posted by Show Ring Outfitters on 18th Nov 2019

The fashion industry is constantly evolving, so if you're trying to be the trendiest girl on Instagram, it can be a lot to keep up with. However, if you pay attention over time, you'll notice that fashion trends are actually somewhat cyclical. Every year, there are new trends that only last for one season, but there are also iconic looks that live on for decades. Saddle seat fashion, although relatively standard over time, has experienced similar style swings from season to season. As you begin to plan your look for next year, here are a few of our favorite trends to watch for in 2020.

2020's Hottest Color: Flame Scarlet

If you aren't sure where to even begin visualizing your new show outfit, a great resource to start with is the 2020 Pantone color palette. At the top of the list of next year's hottest colors is "Flame Scarlet", a vibrant red that is soon to be seen everywhere in the fashion industry. If you aren't feeling bold enough to rock this color as your day coat, you can still work it into your ensemble in smaller doses, such as your accessories with this one-of-a-kind set.

Vintage is Always in Style

When in doubt, take a look back at trends of the past and think about what makes them so special. If you see a design you like, think about how you can incorporate it into your look in a new, creative way. For example, this vintage horse head pendant has a simplistic, sophisticated design that aligns perfectly with the standards for saddle seat attire. We recreated a similar look with these timeless back number magnets and their coordinating whip. The same concept can apply for your clothes - find some colors, fabrics, or prints that you like, and figure out how to include them.

Florals, for Spring? Groundbreaking.

Chanel is all about the camellia flower, and this season it's a main staple of their fine jewelry collection. Not only was this Gabrielle Chanel's favorite flower, but coincidentally, she first began using it in her designs when she noticed men wearing them pinned to the lapels of their suits. Fitting, given than Chanel gained popularity by feminizing the men's suit, which is exactly what we aim to accomplish by accessorizing the saddle seat riding suit. The original Chanel camellia brooch will cost you a cool $15k, but we're happy to offer an alternative at a more modest price.

Trending Now: Equestrian Street Style

Many luxury fashion designers draw inspiration from the "equestrian lifestyle" to create beautiful, timeless pieces based around the tack and apparel used by horseback riders. For example, this year, Dior brought back their iconic saddle bag, and other designers have introduced similar styles honoring the equestrian aesthetic. Since you'd probably rather spend $3k on a real saddle instead, you can get the same look here at a fraction of the cost.

When it comes to your personal style, there are no right or wrong answers. Especially in the show ring, the most important thing is that you feel confident in your outfit! Although the saddle seat look is extremely traditional by nature, don't be afraid to take a leap and try something no one has done before. Who knows, you may even become a trendsetter for other riders to follow!
